Casino company sues Tonkawa Tribe on management contract

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

A gaming company is suing the Tonkawa Tribe of Oklahoma for being ousted from managing the tribe's two casinos.

Gaughan Gaming started managing the Tonkawa Casino and the Native Lights Casino in 2007. Last September, the tribe ended the two management contracts and suspended the company's gaming license.

Gaughan claims the action was illegal under the agreement. A state judge has scheduled a hearing on Friday.

According to the AP, Gaughan receives 30 percent of net profits. Since 2006, the tribe's casinos have pulled in $52 million, according to the company.

The Gaughan agreements are on the National Indian Gaming Commission's list of approved management contracts.
